Aijia Yao, M.A.

Aijia is a Research Program Coordinator at the opioid lab working with Dr. Andrew Huhn. She is currently working on a clinical trial that explores the relationship between sleep, stress, and opioid use disorder (OUD) recovery. Graduated from Stony Brook University with a B.A. and M.A. in Psychology in 2021, Aijia embraces a great passion in both research and clinical work and plans to pursue a PhD in clinical/counseling psychology in the near future.

Her main research interests are (1) building and disseminating community-level, culturally competent psychological interventions to depression and anxiety, (2) exploring day-to-day, real-life mental health experience in BIPOC and SGM populations through ecological momentary assessment (EMA), and (3) incorporating family psychoeducation as a part of the therapeutic process. At leisure, Aijia enjoys singing, playing video games on consoles and PC, and finding good places to eat
